The History of Immanuel Lutheran School and Immanuel St. James
Immanuel Lutheran School was established in 1859 to educate the children of Grand Rapids in a God-honoring school. The congregation of Immanuel Lutheran Church Grand Rapids has provided support for the school for over 150 years!

Approximately 30 years ago, Immanuel-St. James Lutheran School was created as a cooperative venture between Immanuel Lutheran and St. James Lutheran churches. Both congregations believe in connecting children to Jesus and continue to support the school.
Our Preschool program and grades Kindergarten through 8th grade are taught at the St. James building on Oakwood NE near Knapp St. in the Riverside neighborhood.
Our athletic program has been moved to New Community Church on Dean Lake Road in Grand Rapids.
